An exciting opportunity is available for a Piping EIT to work out of our Hamilton, ON office.  The successful candidate’s roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Successfully execute and implement all aspects of the engineering design process for industrial process piping projects in mid to large scale industrial settings.
  • Lead/Manage single discipline piping engineering projects, including determination of design inputs, requirements, budgets and schedules.
  • Assist Sr. Engineers in the execution of large multi-discipline projects.
  • With the assistance of Sr. Engineers determine and review design layout and coordinate the general approach of the project.
  • With the assistance of Sr. Engineers perform engineering calculations and prepare technical reports.
  • Select equipment and prepare specifications to be approved by Sr. Engineers.
  • Suggest solutions to inconsistencies in design specifications or design requirements to Sr. Engineers or Project Managers and initiate corrective action.
  • Assist Sr. Engineers with the review of construction and/or design conformance.
  • Participate in field trips as required, organize personnel, and assess site conditions.
  • Ensure layout conforms to functional requirements.
  • Prepare component and / or equipment specifications for review by engineers.
  • Select suitable components and / or equipment based on project specifications.
  • Produce final / for construction drawings in accordance with JNE standards.
  • Assist in the supervision, training, and direction of junior team members.
  • Assist with the overall planning of a project including project timelines and schedules.
  • Pro-actively seek feedback and learning opportunities from others.
  • Any other duties as required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Engineering Degree, University Level, in related discipline.
  • 0–4 years relevant working experience.
  • Registered EIT required (CDN).
  • P.Eng. licensed or ability to obtain P.Eng. license in <6 months an asset.
  • Effective, efficient, and professional in the execution of all required tasks.
  • Organized and self-directed, task and goal oriented.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Experience in heavy industry an asset. Metals and mining experience an asset.
  • Commercial/light industry HVAC and building services experience.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and application of ASME piping codes an asset (B31.1 & B31.3).
  • Demonstrable knowledge and application of TSSA Boiler and Pressure Vessel regulations an asset.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and application of Caesar II Stress Analysis software an asset.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and application of AFT Fathom/Arrow software an asset.
